Hisense PL2: what it gives up
- Single-laser color gamut is well short of the tri-laser USTs at a similar price
- Vidaa rather than Google TV — the app selection is narrower
- 3,000:1 native contrast and an ALR screen still required
- 60 Hz only, and Hisense publishes neither input lag nor fan noise
- Hisense does not publish the image offset, so where the bottom of the picture lands cannot be calculated before installation
Hisense C2 Ultra: what it gives up
- Vidaa rather than a licensed Google or Samsung platform
- Hisense publishes no contrast, noise or input-lag figures for this model
- Independent measurements have come in meaningfully below the 3,000-lumen rating, though within ISO's 20% tolerance
- Only two HDMI ports
- Narrow-band tri-laser light can show speckle, which complicates screen choice on grey and high-gain surfaces
