Hisense PX3-Pro: what it gives up
- 3,000:1 native contrast — tri-laser USTs trade black level for color, and this is the trade
- An ambient-light-rejecting screen is effectively mandatory and adds $1,000 or more
- Around 30 ms input lag at 4K, so gaming wants the 1080p modes
- Laser speckle is visible to some viewers on tri-laser engines
- Hisense publishes no fan-noise figure
- It launched at a premium over the tri-laser rival that has held the value position in this category for years
Samsung The Premiere 7: what it gives up
- Single-laser phosphor, so the color volume is well below the tri-laser Premiere 9
- 0.25 throw ratio needs more wall clearance than a 0.19-class UST
- No Dolby Vision, and Samsung publishes neither a contrast figure nor an input-lag figure for it
